In this article, we mentioned that in Thailand, more women than men own NFTs. But that is not the case with cryptocurrency.
According to a recent Pew Research Center survey, almost twice as many women as men invest in cryptocurrency; 19% of women ages 18-29 say they’ve bought, traded or used a cryptocurrency, versus 43% of men.
It is crucial to shed light and give accolades to women making their mark in this male-dominated industry. In this article, I’ll be telling you about five women who are killing it in the crypto space.
1. Cleve Mesidor:
Before Mesidor ventured into cryptocurrency, she was into politics. She was appointed by Barack Obama to promote White House economic programs and national public-private partnerships to advance innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2016, she joined the world of crypto and became a full-time crypto enthusiast just a year later. The National Policy Network of Women of Color in Blockchain is led by Mesidor, who is currently the executive director of the Blockchain Foundation.
She has paved the way for many women in crypto, especially women of colour.
2. Charlene Fadirepo:
Like many others, Charlene ventured into the crypto world at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. While learning about crypto, she found it hard to find a suitable community to join and grow with, so she built her own. She started a crypto course, and through Guidefbuilt, she made it on top of her existing community.
Starting as a government regulator, Charlene is now a financial and crypto advisor.
3. Ria Bhutoria:
A research director at Fidelity Digital Assets, Bhutoria is known for thoroughly analysing crypto issues. She is passionate about providing insightful analysis of crypto market events. She loves to help alleviate criticism directed at digital currencies.
4. Elizabeth Stark:
A co-founder of the Lightning Lab, Stark created the Lightning Network for Bitcoin transactions as a layer 2 solution.
Her Lightning Network demonstration in congress demonstrated how Bitcoin can be used in the real world thanks to her work on the Lightning Network. Stark is also a member of a leading cryptocurrency policy organisation, Coin Centre.
5. Alakanani Itireleng:
Itireleng had made a massive impact on the crypto industry in Botswana. She is the creator of Bitcoin Marketplace, Satoshi centre. Satoshi Centre is an exclusive centre for Bitcoin transactions. She has also created a blockchain hub that helps children learn technology skills called El Viaje es Infinito.
Ani Itireleng is popularly called “BitcoinLady”.
Conclusion
A report by an Australian bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchange, BTC Markets says women users grew 175% last year, dwarfing male users by 80%.
It is incredible to see more women getting into the crypto space, making big moves, and making their mark.
